Meet the ACC Staff:

Sue Kilburn, Director & NOC Group Facilitator

Sue Kilburn, Director & NOC Group Facilitator

Sue Kilburn is currently serving as the Director. Mrs. Kilburn has been with us for the past four years as the facilitator of the non-offending parent support group. Since 1988, Mrs. Kilburn served as the Assistant Director of North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network, Inc. (NGMCN) which was our founding agency, so she is very familiar with our program. When she was with NGMCN, she was the Supervisor of the Domestic Violence Program and the Legal Advocate for Victims. She served as the Chair Person for the Domestic Violence Task Force for five years; she also was a member of the Judicial Panel Review for Foster Children for the Juvenile Court Judge for six years. For the past 19 years, she has continued her education in the social work area with a variety of courses. She has had years of experience with crisis intervention, legal advocacy, victim services, community presentations, serving on local and state committees, as well as supervising staff members. She always enjoys time with her family especially at the lake, boating and swimming.

Kristen Lewis, Finance Director & Forensic Evaluator

Kristen Lewis, Finance Director & Forensic Evaluator

Kristen Lewis began as the Executive Director in 2001. She oversaw the general operation and funding of the ACC; as well as supervised staff, provided direct services to victims, and conducted forensic interviews and evaluations. She continued her work full time at the center until she had a baby in 2007. Now, Mrs. Lewis serves as our Finance Director part-time and continues to provide forensic interviews and forensic evaluations as needed. Mrs. Lewis attended Piedmont College and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a Minor in English, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Mrs. Lewis has been interviewing children since 2002. She is involved at the state level working with Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia, and serves on their Board of Directors. Mrs. Lewis has also attended numerous trainings regarding forensic interviewing at the local, state, and national levels. She enjoys singing, swimming, going to the lake, and spending time with her family.

Bobbie Jo Cash, Victim Services Coordinator Bobbie Jo Cash, Victim Services Coordinator

Bobbie Jo Cash is the Victim Services Coordinator for Appalachian Children's Center. She began at the ACC in June of 2006. She is a 2002 graduate of Gilmer High School. Furthermore, she is a 2004 graduate of Appalachian Technical College in Jasper, GA. She holds an Associate Degree in Accounting as well as Business Office Administration. She is also a Certified Customer Service Representative, Certified Document Processor, and Certified Computerized Accounting Technician. Before joining the ACC, Bobbie Jo was the Executive Assistant at Gilmer County Family Connection. At Family Connection, Bobbie Jo handled daily operational functions of the organization.

Bobbie Jo fills her time away from work being active in her son’s sports activities and church AWANA Program.

Meagan Holloway, Case Manager

Meagan Holloway, Case Manager

Meagan Holloway is the Case Manager at the Appalachian Children's Center. She joined the Appalachian Children's Center in March of 2008. Meagan comes to the Appalachian Children's Center after previously working with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as both a volunteer and staff member for almost two years. Meagan is a 2004 graduate of Gilmer High School. Furthermore, she currently is pursuing her Psychology degree from Argosy University. Meagan values each child and hopes to make a difference in improving children’s lives. In the small amount of time Meagan isn’t doing school work she enjoys spending time with her family and reading.

Dr. Meredith O'Leary, Clinical Director Dr. Meredith O’Leary, Clinical Director

Dr. Meredith O’Leary is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Woodstock, Georgia. She earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology in 1996 and was licensed in the state of Georgia in 1998. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. O’Leary provided individual therapy to sexually abused children and adolescents, as well as adolescent sex offenders, at Medlin Treatment Center for two and a half years, and also provided consulting psychological services to adolescents at Three Springs’ outdoor treatment program in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Dr. O’Leary worked at Hidden Lake Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for oppositional adolescents, for seven years, first as a Counselor, then as the Associate Director of Counseling, and finally as the Director of Counseling from 1998 to 2003. Dr. O’Leary's graduate practicum and internship experiences included working with adult female survivors of childhood sexual abuse, providing outpatient individual therapy to clients of a wide range of ages and backgrounds, performing psychological assessments, and working in inpatient and partial hospital settings.

Nancy Chancey, Counselor and Group Facilitator

Nancy Chancey, Counselor and Group Facilitator

Nancy Chancey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Social Work. She has been working in the field of Social Work for over 15 years. Her specialties include working with sexual abuse survivors and in trauma recovery. Mrs. Chancey’s background includes working with sexual offenders and in criminal behaviors and substance abuse. She has also worked extensively in the area of domestic violence. She currently has her own private practice (part-time) offering individual, family, and marriage counseling. She also works part-time with the Appalachian Children’s Center doing individual and group counseling for child victims. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Naturopathic Healing through Clayton College.
